Sudbury welcomes City Electric Supply with grand opening celebration

Discover the customer-focused approach of C.E.S. electrical wholesale network - Now in Sudbury!

City Electric Supply (C.E.S.) is a Canadian electrical wholesale network that was established in 1951. Today it has more than 1,000 branches operating across eight countries, providing electrical distribution services and products.

John Oderkirk opened the Sudbury branch in 2022.

“I was working with a different distributor but was not happy with that company’s path or views on customer service,” explains Oderkirk. “I spoke with Joe Spiteri, Regional Manager at C.E.S., about helping to expand their territory. Discussions started in February. I signed on in August of last year and the doors to the Sudbury branch opened in December 2022.”

He smiles, “For me, this was the ideal fit because of the company’s direction and expansion program, but most all for its great customer focus. C.E.S. excels in service externally and internally. For two consecutive years, the company has achieved Great Place to Work status.”

Oderkirk enjoys the day-to-day contractor counter sales and helping residential, commercial, and industrial clients get the products and services they need.

“C.E.S. is known for being customer focused and attentive to inventory,” says Oderkirk. “We have what customers need when they need it; we have the inventory to support day-to-day sales. The people in our branch are very knowledgeable and have been in the industry for a very long time. Customers are assured of us having both the inventory and the experience to meet – to exceed – their needs.”

Oderkirk and his team are community focused as well and enjoy giving back. That is why C.E.S.’ support of the Make-A-Wish foundation was also a natural fit.

“Since 2020, C.E.S. has supported Make-A-Wish with more than $400,000 in fundraising,” Oderkirk says.

On April 27, C.E.S. Sudbury will celebrate its grand opening. The event takes place at 2302 Algonquin Road, from 10 am to 2 pm. A free BBQ, deals such as a free 5aH battery when you spend $500 or more on Milwaukee items, and a grand prize draw valued over $1,400 are all part of the fun. Vendors and Pure Country 91.7 will be on site. RSVP by emailing [email protected] to join the celebration.
