NORCAT, a Sudbury-based organization specializing in innovative services and skills training for the mining industry, has gone international.

The company has opened an office in Chile to serve the Latin America mining market. Up until this point, NORCAT had primarily been a Northern Ontario operation with offices in Sudbury, Onaping, Thunder Bay and Timmins.  The company has also provided training and resources for global mining companies.

The newest venture has NORCAT opening an office in Santiago, the capital city of Chile.

"Establishing our office in Chile reinforces our international presence, our commitment to ensuring exceptional quality and service levels for our clients, and specifically strengthens and expands our capabilities in Latin America," said Don Duval, NORCAT CEO.

"With our continued investments in our Underground Centre, the launch of Studio NORCAT, and the growth of our human capital advisory practice, we felt the timing was right to better engage our clientele in both Chile and Latin America more broadly."

Carlos Molina, NORCAT's Latin America manager, said the mining industry in the Andean region of Latin America is “flourishing” with Chile, Peru, Ecuador and Argentina expecting US $38 billion worth of investment over the next three years.

"NORCAT's local and international expertise provide an incredible opportunity for clients to be at the forefront of training and development to ensure their workforce is both productive and safe on the job - all day, every day,” said Molina.
