Mining contractor Cementation cut the ribbon on a state-of-the-art maintenance facility in October. The North Bay facility significantly increases work and warehouse space. It provides enhanced lifting, electrical and compressed air capacity to support the servicing of Cementation’s underground fleets, raise boring plants and shaft sinking equipment which are used on mining projects around the globe.

The shop has a dedicated and environmentally isolated electrical shop and is capable of operating and testing electrical motors of up to 600hp, along with a compressed air system to allow for the operation and testing of pneumatic equipment. It’s also equipped with new 50- and 20-tonne overhead cranes and embedded floor anchors to secure hoists and winches for testing.

“This new facility expands our capabilities to better service our projects and reinforces our commitment to continue to support our clients’ needs,” said Roy Slack, president of Cementation Canada.
