The mine life of Barrick Gold’s Hemlo operations could be extended for up to another 10 years as a result of studies currently underway.
The operation, which includes open pit and underground mining, has been in production for 30 years.
Studies on extending the mine life of Hemlo were undertaken as a result of access to an adjoining land package and positive drilling results.
Hemlo employs approximately 500 employees and 200contractors.
