Rail-Veyor Technologies Global Inc. has announced a contract with Maroil Trading Inc. to install a new Rail-Veyor material handling system at a refining facility located in Barcelona, Venezuela.

“We appreciate MAROIL for leading the way and taking action together with us to provide the petroleum and mining industries in Venezuela with our new material haulage technology,” said Frank Ward, Rail-Veyor’s vice-president, sales and marketing.

The four-kilometre Rail-Veyor system will be installed this year and will be a surface haulage operation transporting petroleum coke to a port facility for export. Besides improved operational cost versus traditional truck haulage, the Rail-Veyor system will provide MAROIL with significantly improved safety and environmental benefits.

Rail-Veyor Technologies is a Sudbury-based company providing bulk material handling solutions to the mining and aggregate industries. Rail-Veyor’s environmentally friendly technology can cost effectively transport ore, coal, aggregate, waste materials, wood chips and other industrial bulk materials over long distances and difficult surface topographies. It can also be used to transport ore in underground mining applications.

Last year, the Sudbury company signed a contract to install a rail-veyor material handling system at Agnico Eagle’s Goldex Mine in Val d’Or, Quebec.
