Joy Global recently debuted its newest offering for the hard rock mining market: the Joy 16TD truck.

Based on the popular DT-1804 truck model, the 16TD features lower hood lines for improved visibility, a digital operator display, shorter turning radius, ground level maintenance and faster ramp speeds. The 16TD replaces the DT-1804 model.

The first machine came off the line at the end of September and was set to debut at the Acapulco Mining Show held Oct. 7-10, but was immediately sold to a customer.

“Our hard rock ready trucks and loaders are designed with operator safety, reliability and ease of maintenance in mind, and the 16TD was built to enhance those features,” said Josh Wagner, general manager of Joy Global Canada in Sudbury, where the unit was produced.

Joy Global has an extensive product line of hard rock equipment, including hydraulic jumbo drills, in-the-hole production drills, loaders and trucks. Its line of hydraulic jumbo drills for mining and tunneling use Montabert HC series drifters and Intelsense drilling controls. Joy hard rock loaders feature a wide variety of rated load capacities and are ideal for narrow vein applications. Joy trucks are designed for ground-level maintenance and reliability.
