SUDBURY– Oct. 27, 2021: Ionic Mechatronics welcomes Desom Systems Inc. into the Ionic Technology Group. A deal between the two firms will see Ionic take over the daily operations of Desom, including sales, design, and manufacturing as well as service and support of Desom’s complete line of products. This acquisition brings to seven the total number of companies included in the group.

For more than 40 years, Desom has been a world leader in providing engineered solutions to environmental control problems in the mining and steel industries. Their products provide environmentally conscious solutions to industries that are constantly seeking to reduce their environmental footprint. As part of the agreement, the current principals, John Davis and Jim Garland, will remain as consultants to support a smooth transition.

“We have worked with Ionic for a few years and we were confident going into this process that they represented the same values that led to our success” says John Davis, founder of Desom.

Both companies service the same industries and have a strong focus on tank house technologies.

“This was a natural evolution for Ionic. Having the specialty products offered by Desom really complements what we can offer our customers around the globe,” commented Andre Dumais, president of Ionic Mechatronics.

Desom’s operations have been moved to Ionic’s newly expanded offices in Lively. Former Ionic employee Connor MacKinnon has been charged with leading Desom into its new future. Under Connor’s leadership, Ionic hopes to grow this line of business, adding to the region’s employment figures. With a clear vision and a sound business plan, Desom is sure to see another successful 40 years.
