Sudbury, ON – Jan. 19, 2021: On behalf of Ontario’s North Economic Development Corporation, we are very pleased to announce a new intake of Export Marketing Assistance (EMA) funding for Northern Ontario-based companies, associations and not-for-profit entities. During these uncertain and difficult times, it is important that we support your ‘export ready’ marketing and business development initiatives to customers outside of Ontario. This in turn will serve to demonstrate the many innovative products and services that Northern Ontario firms like you have to offer.

Export Marketing Assistance is a part of the Northern Ontario Exports Program delivered by ONEDC as a partnership between the cities of North Bay, Sudbury, Sault St. Marie, Timmins and Thunder Bay and is funded by FedNor with the support of the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation.

To be eligible, applicants should have completed the Strategic Export Marketing Program and/or can demonstrate preparedness and capability to participate in export initiatives. The EMA Program is a conditional contribution towards NEW export development projects that can be completed by March 31, 2022. Organizations can apply for funding support based on the level of eligible costs as follows:

  • up to $10,000 or maximum of 50% of total eligible project costs up to $49,999;
  • up to $20,000 or maximum of 40% of total eligible project costs between $50,000 and $99,999; or
  • up to $30,000 or maximum of 30% of total eligible project costs over $100,000.

Please take a moment to review the full list of eligible costs and criteria in the EMA 2021 brochure and note that funding is available on a first come, first served basis.
