Mining Show expects record-breaking year

The Canadian Mining and Industrial Expo, scheduled for May 14 and 15 at Sudbury’s Exhibition Centre, appears headed for a record-breaking year once again, said Darren Ceccarelli of DAC Marketing Ltd.

The Canadian Mining and Industrial Expo, scheduled for May 14 and 15 at Sudbury’s Exhibition Centre, appears headed for a record-breaking year once again, said Darren Ceccarelli of DAC Marketing Ltd.

The mining show, a fixture of the Sudbury mining scene since 1994, drew 1,500 delegates and 110 exhibitors last year. While most of the attendees are from Sudbury and other Northern Ontario mining communities, the event has begun to attract an increasing number of delegates from overseas in the last few years.

“We’re getting a lot more international exposure,” said Ceccarelli. “Last year, we had visitors from China, Australia, Africa, South America and India. This year, we have large groups coming from China and South Africa.”

Indoor booth space was almost sold out by January, but plans were put in place to accommodate additional exhibitors in a tent outside the Exhibition Centre.

Show hours are Wednesday, May 14, from noon to 7 pm and Thursday, May 15, from 10 am to 4 pm.

The event is a perfect opportunity for purchasing agents, engineers, plant foremen, maintenance engineers and other mining industry personnel to see what’s new in mining technology, said Ceccarelli.

Attendees are invited to pre-register on the DAC Marketing web site or at the door.
