n has been recognized as an authorized, off-highway Dana service centre. The Sudbury-based company supplies, repairs and overhauls axles, differentials, drivelines, transmissions, torque converters and brakes for underground mining equipment.

Established in 1977, the company began serving mines in the Sudbury Basin, but expanded its customer base over the years to include mining operations across Northern Ontario, Northern Quebec and Manitoba. It also supplies Sudbury-based OEMs and remanufacturers. Its reputation for customer service and its extensive inventory of difficult to source legacy parts has also resulted in sales across Canada and around the world, including South America, Australia and South Africa, said company president Pierre Paquette.

The Dana service centre designation authorizes Bull Powertrain to perform warranty work and streamlines the ordering of parts from Dana manufacturing locations globally.

“Dana is very proud to have Bull Powertrain as the newest addition to our North American service centre locations,” said Cam Roberts, Dana’s senior global accounts manager. “Bull Powertrain has many years of knowledge and experience repairing and remanufacturing Dana transmissions, axles and torque converters. Their technicians are fully trained and certified and offer a full spectrum of value-added service, technical support, warranty repairs and genuine parts.”

“It’s a great honour to finally be recognized as an authorized Dana service centre,” said Paquette, who points out that in its 114-year history, only one other company in Canada has been so designated.

The company operates out of a 20,000-square-foot shop and employs up to 25 employees.

Bull Powertain offers customers repair and return as well as a component exchange services. The latter speeds delivery of new or reconditioned parts to a customer. Once in receipt of the defective part, the company credits the customer for its value, reconditions it and adds it to its inventory. The popular service significantly reduces equipment downtime.

In the interest of offering customers a complete package of powertrain services, Bull Powertrain opened a driveline facility for manufacturing drive shafts six years ago. The shafts are customized locally for the precise dimensions of each piece of equipment, saving customers from having to source shafts from outside the region.

The company is also an authorized distributor for Spicer, Funk, Kessler, GWB, Superior Gearbox and AxleTech International.
