Zenyatta Ventures, based in Thunder Bay, has been awarded $350,000 from the National Research Council of Canada’s Industrial Research Assistance Program to support a metallurgical program designed to provide data for the start of a pre-feasibility study on its Albany Graphite project situated near the communities of Constance Lake First Nation and Hearst.

“This support by NRC-IRAP complements our various collaborative partnerships and allows us to produce larger market samples of high-purity graphite which will permit continued graphite and graphene application development,” said Aubrey Eveleigh, Zenyatta president and CEO.

Zenyatta’s strategy is to continue development of the Albany Graphite deposit and at the same time develop commercial applications with several partners. This includes the development of grapheme-infused concrete as well as continued work on lithium ion batteries, fuel cells and powder metallurgy through other global collaborations.

Meanwhile, the Town of Hearst and Constance Lake First Nation have embarked on the joint development of a mining readiness strategy designed to boost economic development and growth in the region and improve local skills and service delivery.
