Two mine rescue competitions slated for Sudbury

Two mine rescue competitions will be held in Sudbury this summer. The Ontario Mine Rescue Competition will be held June 6 to June 10, and the 10th International Mines Rescue Competition (IMC-2016) will be held August 19 to 26.

The Ontario Mine Rescue Competition will be held June 6 to June 10, and the 10th International Mines Rescue Competition (IMC-2016) will be held August 19 to 26.

IMRC-2016 will attract approximately 30 teams representing 20 countries, including Australia, the United States, Poland, Ireland, India, Russia, Ukraine and Vietnam.

The provincial competition will be held at the Norcat Underground Centre, the former Fecunis Mine, in Onaping, 45 kilometres north of downtown Sudbury.

The 2016 International mine Rescue Competition is being hosted by Workplace Safety North and Ontario Mine Rescue.
