COVID-19 case confirmed at Vale’s Coleman Mine

Vale has confirmed there has been a COVID-19 case confirmed at its Coleman Mine. This is the first known case at a Sudbury-area mine.

“We have engaged with local health authorities and are providing all necessary assistance to the employee,” said company spokesperson Danica Pagnutti, in a press release. 

“Vale continues to take all the necessary measures to support the prevention of the COVID-19 at its sites. 

“All Vale employees wear electronic badges to facilitate rapid contact tracing, which has now been conducted. At this time, there is no evidence of workplace transmission.”

Public Health Sudbury & Districts confirmed another four new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, with three of them being in Greater Sudbury, and the fourth in the Sudbury District.

There are a total of nine known active cases in the area covered by the health unit.
