RDH introduces new haul truck series
RDH Mining Equipment unveiled a new line of underground haul trucks at MINExpo, September 22 to 24 in Las Vegas. Available in 7.5-ton, 10-ton and 12-ton sizes, the Haulmaster Series is designed for narrow vein applications and available with different back ends and dumping configurations, depending on the material being hauled.
The 10-ton Haulmaster on display at MINExpo was sold to U.S. Silver Corporation in Idaho.
The truck features an operator station with chair and controls that swivel to a forward-facing position for greater operator comfort during long trams.
Having remanufactured numerous haul trucks over the years, “we know what’s good, what’s bad and where the problems are,” said RDH president Rick Lemieux. The Haulmaster Series, for example, uses components such as cylinders, pumps and drivelines that are the same as those used on other RDH equipment in order to minimize parts inventories and simplify repair and maintenance work. The truck is also easy to take apart and put back together for transportation down a shaft.
The company, based in Alban, 40 kilometres south of Sudbury, has also unveiled a new line of underground transmixers for hauling cement. RDH designed and manufactured the transmixer series as a result of a request by Xstrata Nickel for a mixer with 3.5 cubic metre capacity that could fit in the cage at its new Nickel Rim South Mine in Sudbury.
“It’s made to be moved from station to station on different levels without having to be disassembled,” said Lemieux. “It was a nice project for us because it’s right on our doorstep.”
The transmixer is also available in 4.5 and 5.5 cubic metre sizes for use in mines with ramp systems.
A hydraulically operated rear bumper protects the drum from getting banged up in transit, but retracts out of the way for pouring and to fit inside the cage
