Cementation’s Roy Slack named as CIM president
Roy Slack, a director with Cementation Americas, has been named as president of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM). The announcement was made Monday at the CIM annual general meeting being held in Montreal, said a news release from that organization.
The CIM post is a one year term. Slack was formerly company president and is currently on the board of directors of Cementation Americas.
“I am very proud and passionate about the mining industry and getting involved in the CIM is a great way to channel that passion into support of our industry,” Slack said in the release.
The CIM is composed of 10,000 members, more than 30 branches, and 10 technical societies right across Canada. The not-for-profit organization is primarily made up of volunteers and is focused on creating and sharing leading-edge knowledge, fostering a connected and engaged mining community, and expanding awareness of the essential contribution mining makes to society.
“I am very grateful to Cementation for their support of my work with the CIM,” stated Slack.
